The Time Traveller's Guides are a conceptual series dreamed up and written by the British historian, Dr Ian Mortimer. Apart from the Time Traveller's Guides, he is the author of Human Race, four medieval biographies, two academic volumes, a book about writing history (What isn't history?) and two editions of documents, as well as many research articles.

Prior to becoming a full-time writer in 2001 he worked for Devon Record Office, the Royal Commission on Historical Manuscripts and the universities of Exeter and Reading. He was awarded the Alexander Prize (2004) by the Royal Historical Society for his work on the social history of medicine.

Further information about him is available on his website, www.ianmortimer.com
